Pipetto’s mission was to create protective shells for the
next generation of smartphones, which maintained a premium aesthetic and had no impact on the handsets increasingly complex wireless and multi-media functionality.
The design and R&D project brief covered: structural integrity, durability, and ability to withstand drops and impacts. Any new solution needed to support wireless charging, building in RF-characteristics into the protective shell, while also allowing un-fettered performance of a handset’s internal antenna. The performance of the design and the materials used in the protective case were all critical factors to be considered, alongside the need for Pipetto’s signature premium look and feel.
Pipetto embarked on a multi-stage iterative process.
Engineering, prototyping and testing of materials and
product design concluded in a successful set of new magnetic, wireless charging compatible products with no material effect on antenna performance – a global first.
Our team worked hand in hand with Pipetto to identify the optimal R&D tax credit claim and achieved a credit worth 25% of the qualifying costs.
If you’re a small to medium company in the UK, you could also be claiming back up to £33 on every £100 spent on R&D. The work you do that qualifies for the R&D tax credits scheme — often embedded in the day-to-day running of your business — may surprise you.Get in touch
